Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.2/100, a mean average of 68.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

Brilliant Album! My favourite by far?

Really tires me out after 911 / Plastic Doll. Everything is gold up to that, though. It's just that 911 is a literal musical mental breakdown - really unlike anything I've ever heard in pop before - and Plastic Doll is fun but kind of overwrought, and I'm just spent after it. I usually skip to Bablyon and pretend tracks 10-15 don't exist, especially Sour Candy, which is just sour.

This is definitely interesting. I'll make sure to revisit it someday.

Her most consistent and fully realised project to date. It's a grey-on-pink, Star Trek sci-fi meets Drag Race camp whirlwind, with a sound completely in love with the early 90s. Gaga arrived blazing into the pop world preaching self love and expression; now, however, she's turned that message on herself, in what is a revealing album that deals with personal struggle and romantic trouble.
Once an alien saviour, now someone taking you on a personal journey across her galaxy. One of 2020's best releases.
decent 4
Best: Rain On Me, 911, Babylon
Worst: Plastic Doll
Not bad, but not special either. Just enjoyable pop. I like the collaboration with Elton John for "Sine From Above".
After giving this album a couple listens, I would say the caveat that prevents this album getting a higher rating from me would be wishing a couple of these songs have a few more flourishes to have a more fuller sound. But even with that, not only would I argue this album is quite a solid release but also being a grower record where to some listeners, while certain songs might not hit will probably end up hitting some listeners in the future. I feel the interludes not only segway into the next track for the most part but also gives a bit of variety for the album. Thematically there isn't a track that feels out of place. And the tracks that hit a punch or are subdued knockers, do leave a great impression for me. Songs like Rain On Me, Replay, Free Woman, Plastic Doll, Stupid Love and Alice are prime examples. And the rest while don't hit me the hardest still have parts that excite me and doesn't annoy me where I would skip it. This might change if I decide to listen to the rest of Gaga's discography but as of now, I enjoy this.
After listening all the way through, the only thing I had to say was "yeah, so what". It's very 'Default Pop'. It just seems like she's not really into it anymore. It's very unoffensive music, and I like being offended sometimes.

Sounds like Eurovision music...
It is an enjoyable pop album, nothing exceptional but nothing terrible. It is a solid listen.
