Underrated. If this was the sound that Tool stuck with everyone would love it. It doesn't have the scope of later Tool albums, but it rocks hard while giving the listener a shot of intelligent lyrics every once in a while.

A great debut album. "Intolerance" and "Sober" are among my favourite Tool songs. But in the grand scheme of things, this album was just the beginning for Tool.

Not a bad debut, but it lacks the interesting and dynamic metal songs of their subsequent albums. Sober is good and Prison Sex is decent, but the rest leaves a lot to be desired.

It's true - Tool hitting the mainstream led to a bunch of awful copycat bands. Can one resent them for that? Maybe not... but this album doesn't grab me.

The first three songs are Tool classics, and there are plenty of enjoyable passages throughout the rest of the material.

This album launched Tool into the mainstream which began a trend toward darker, more disturbing hard rock. Unfortunately it also led to a lot of bad clone bands, but that's not Tool's fault. The album starts of great with 3 consecutive strong entries. Sober and Prison Sex were both singles with excellent videos. A land, ark album of 90s metal (if you can call it metal).
