Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.4/100, a mean average of 73.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

Certainly a bit rough, but one of those albums where you realize you've listened to it so much you know it note for note (and in this case "YEAHHHHHHHHHH!"for "Bob Marley wannabe motherfucker")

Was pleasantly surprised by this... Having never previously listened to any of the tracks off this EP I was expecting it to be a weak, lackluster debut and to be really dark and heavy... It definitely hit hard and I found myself paying particular attention to the drums, they're phenomenal!! Not as experimental as their later works, which is fine with me. Addition of the live tracks adds to the experience and emotion of TOOL. I found once it was over I wished it were longer. This EP is a little underrated in my opinion.. If you dig Tool you'll probably like this

Reasonably solid debut: certainly above average. Hush, Jerk-Off, and Opiate show plenty of aggression and power. This was an angry, young band at the time; in later years they would add more sophistication to their sound.
