Super duper disappointing follow up to 2018’s rather good ‘Future Me Hates Me’. Everything seems paired back and lacklustre. Looking for a “Rivers Run” ? It ain’t here
Let’s hope on album 3 they throw out the songbook and return to the energetic hooks from 2018

This album is absolutely incredible. The Beths follow up their impressive debut with an even more impressive record. The lyrics are outstanding, using clever wordplay and rhyme schemes to achieve a depth that matches the levels of Phoebe Bridgers. Some of the best songs of the year without a doubt.
The Beths return with their sophomore effort, released in the wake of their refreshingly strong debut. Jump Rope Gazers provides a sound and energy very similar to he one in the debut and stays mostly in safe waters. This album is much of the same in terms of sound and lyrics, but also shows the band's softer side, while offering a couple of catchy tracks ('Dying To Believe', 'Jump Rope Gazers').
Still, this is a slightly disappointing follow-up, since there are less great hooks and not very much variation. The best part is still the harmonies, the simple choruses and the overall garage rock mentality. Bands like The Beths are few and far between these days.
