Just horrible
In my opinion, VDGG best album and one of the bests from 1976.
I read in the liner notes that one reviewer said this album had too many "Smart-ass existentialist one-liners". I think that's awesome, myself. Pilgrims in particular captures a feeling of a sort of unfounded but passionate hope that is just chilling and indescribable. I don't agree with the philosophical message of the album, but I can definitely relate to feeling in the songs. VDGG always keeps it real.

Pilgrims is a masterpiece.
Absolutely brilliant. This is my favorite VDGG album.
This is the best Album by that Artist
Peter Hammill is another unrecognised English musical genius. Perhaps the first to recognise that the voice is another instrument to experiment with. Still Life just resonates with pain, wonder, melancholy and hope. No weak songs, but the title track and Childhood's end are masterpieces.
