Let’s be honest TISM or This Is Serious Mum were and always will be a much much much better live act than any of its recorded output so I’m not sure how I feel about this “Best Off” ( get it ?)
For mine the early stuff is great (“Defacate ..” , “Death, Death, Death” and pretty much everything off ‘Great Truckin’ Songs’ ) whilst the head honcho Damien Cowell would be the first to admit quality dipped once the 90’s rolled around
My other complaint is that time hasn’t been kind to many of these tracks, what was “edgy” or “funny” back in the day simply sound purile and immature today and of course I’m talking about “Greg! The Stop Sign!!” , “All Homeboys Are Dickheads”, the downright dreadful “Sid Viscous” (pronounced VIS CUS) and “The Phillip Ruddock Blue”
I think Morrissey said it best - “That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore “
