This is an underrated album. It's often considered forgettable, but I think this is a pretty consistent album in terms of the quality of the tracks. The album is very much influenced by reggae-rock with some funk, blues and disco thrown in there. Less rock n' roll than I would've liked, but overall I liked this album. (Edited)
After exile and beggars banquet this is my favourite stones album. It's a great move from the band. The only weak link is probably cherry oh baby but that's a small quibble. The record sounds fantastic and the music is so rich. Hey negrita and melody are obvious stand outs but best is the epic ballad memory motel, a stones classic. The album always seems to get a bad rap but I think it's one of their best.
Short, solid album. The ballads are just as good as the rockers on this one.

This had a few songs that grabbed me, but nothing terribly special. Hot Stuff, Hand of Fate, Melody, and Hey Negrita.

Agreed. This is definitely one of the weaker efforts in the Stones catelogue.
