"Black and blue" è un disco che non ti prende subito anche per l'assenza di un vero hit, ma quando ti conquista è per sempre.

An average stones album. Though it has some of their best songs, it also has some of their worst. It's still worth a full listen, then just decide your favorite tracks afterwards and discard the rest. Hand of Fate & Crazy Mama has some of their best guitar work.

The one 70s Stones album I could never really get into. Individually, I don't hear much in any of the songs and, as a collection, they just become rather droll after a while.

Hand of fate is the best one IMO & Cherry the worst. But overall the other songs are not bad (7-8)

The sound is good and fresh and if a good thing can be said about B&B is that is just 8 tracks and not packed with fillers as they would have done 10 years later if they came up with this record.

Last but not least the artcover is the best of the band since their first 60s records.
Almost everytime the RS step aside from a band photo cover the art ended up being awful.

After exile and beggars banquet this is my favourite stones album. It's a great move from the band. The only weak link is probably cherry oh baby but that's a small quibble. The record sounds fantastic and the music is so rich. Hey negrita and melody are obvious stand outs but best is the epic ballad memory motel, a stones classic. The album always seems to get a bad rap but I think it's one of their best.

The Stones becalmed mid-decade. They would subsequently bounce back with Some Girls but this album is largely forgettable despite a couple of decent tracks.
