To me, this is the placeholder for their first three EPs - that is to say, as I evaluate it, it contains the other "Avalyn," "Golden Hair," and "Catch the Breeze." As others have said, that makes for a collection of music which is the best they produced aside from Souvlaki - except that, given that Souvlaki has two relative duds in "Altogether" and "Melon Yellow," this is actually more solid. "She Calls," "Morningrise," and "Catch the Breeze" are in my top five of Slowdive songs (the other two are "40 Days" and "Souvlaki Space Station," with "When the Sun Hits" as the honorable mention). "Slowdive," "Losing Today," and "Shine" are all also fantastic, and the other four tracks are very good. Note that they have consistently played six of these tracks live since their reunion. They know that this and Souvlaki are their true legacy. The self-titled album nearly measures up, though, and the Souvlaki demos, if they ever find the master tapes, would be their third-best collection of tracks.

Essential for Slowdive fans. They had a lot of great material in their various EP's that is compiled here. Missing a couple songs I wish were on here but still wonderful and my second favorite album from them after the iconic Souvlaki.
The summation of their wonderful early music. Their overall strongest release outside of Souvlaki and one of my alltime favorite shoegaze records.

A rainy day at the beach. You've brought all your closest friends with you and despite this weather, you still have the best time of your lives. The day ends with you all diving into the sea, it's so cold yet it's the perfect closer to the day.
