Tonton Macoute’s eponymous one and only release, reminds me a lot of Indian Summer and Cressida, both great, mostly unknown bands from the same era. The music is melodic, complex and incorporates a diverse palette of sounds from saxes to flutes and from vibraphones to pianos.

Another quite good proto-prog album, with a blend of jazz and blues influence, strong vocals. The bass player doubled on guitar, so don’t expect much of a guitar presence. Excellent keys (organ, piano) and woodwind (sax, flute) work, though. If you’re into this kind of music at all, this is worth searching out.
