Lírica formidável.
This is the best record by Silvio Rodriguez and it brought "Nueva Trova Cubana" to a wide audience. Silvio was one of the main artists of Cuban "Nueva Trova" that can be translated as "Cuban New Folk" Cuban "Nueva Trova" was a very important cultural tool of Castro's regime in order to gain sympathies and support to the Cuban Revolution, both inside and outside Cuba. Basically every left wing person in Latin America became a fan of Cuban "Nueva Trova" in their peak of its popularity, which is between the mid 70´s and late 80´s. The songs of Silvio Rodriguez frequently support the Cuban Revolution and usually condemn the imperialist acts of the USA in Latin America. Listeners don't necessarily have to agree with the political vision of the songs, but from a musical and lyrical point of view they are all very good and they are a great way to understand an important part of Latin America`s recent history, from the point of view of the left.
