The most intimate live album I've ever heard. It pulls you right into Old Quarter, right there with townes. I love this album. Townes doesn't get the recognition he deserves, but who cares. He's just the amazing Townes Van Zandt.

Townes is my favorite songwriter, and his studio albums are very inconsistent in terms of production, so this is the album I usually turn to. The bare bones guitar/vocals setup is perfect for his songs, and most of his best songs are featured on this set. And there's just a wonderful feeling of intimacy created by the audience noise and the stupid jokes Townes makes between songs. Maybe the best singer-songwriter album ever recorded! (Edited)

This was my introduction to Townes, and have always preferred the live versions to the studio. Which for a a stripped down emotional storyteller artist makes sense.
