I remember reading articles and reviews in Classic Rock when this came out. They said it was his return to form. It probably is but nothing will ever top his UFO days. He's got a core band with this but does bring in a heap of guest musicians on all instruments which gives it a nice degree of variance, but overall there's nothing new going on. Most tracks are a cross between being heavy and melodic metal. Except his solos which are on the heavier side, which is why he's guitar king . He's quite a gun.
