I revise my rating... For those of you having a hard time getting into this, this album was written when Kozelek's long time girlfriend, Katy, had died of cancer at age 35. Heron Blue is about her slow decline in health. A lot of the songs are joyful remembrances of her. Now try to get through this damn thing with a dry eye knowing that.
At first I didn't really enjoy this one. I wanted to get into Sun Kil Moon after I discovered Red House Painters and loved their music so much. Then suddenly this music grew on me and I slowly started to enjoy it more and more.

Heron blue is a really good song, the rest of the album is okay some border lining good
