GSHB are a kind of semi-improvisational, semi-experimental post-punk minimalist jam band whose songs on this album range from near-ambient electronica ("Guiding Light") to slowcore folk ("Irresistable") to Wire-like punkishness ("Lonely Well"). They won't win any awards for musicianship, and the vocals are also a mixed bag; on some tracks there's a guy who does voice-over narration, while on others, a low-key female voice sits aloof and detached, almost in the background. (They could probably do with less of the narrator, actually). Still, there's a kind of charming insouciance about them, as if they're trying not to be a real band and are surprised with how well that's going.
