Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.5/100, a mean average of 69.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.4.

No so good.... one song was a banger (Sweet * Honey * Buckiin') otherwise pretty much hot garbage with this one....

What's weird about this album is that there's people that still fall for the hype.
"Cowboy Carter"'s greatest obstacle is its own self-importance. It treats itself like a revelation when, in truth, it is just a decent country album. The performances, instruments, and writing are all solid but not revolutionary. Divorced from the grandeur, its best moments come from its sweetness. "BODYGUARD" is a tender song about the intimacy between two people. Beyoncé paints a lovely picture of the desire to protect and be protected. Opposite the album's only really awful moment is the cover of "JOLENE". It's rewritten as a standoffish threat rather than a desperate plea. The song's vulnerability makes it special and this version replaces it with insecurity masked as confidence. Definitely worthy to attend the county fair, but no blue ribbon.

Lemonade, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter are 3 amazing albums by far the best in her discography. This album Cowboy Carter is described as a modern country/Americana rooted in RnB record. It really works it is a long album but can be shortened if you skip the tracks 6, 9,14, 18, 19, 21, 22 & 27 a total of roughly 8 mins. IMO the best songs are her covers of Jolene & Blackbird, then American Requiem, 16 Carriages , Texas Hold 'Em, II Hands II Heaven and Ya Ya.
I've always said I like an expensive sounding record and 'COWBOY CARTER' doesn't disappoint of course. However, I'm seeing the term "bloated" used a whole lot and I must say I agree with that view overall. The album would've held my attention more with a leaner track list but I wouldn't say there are any bad tracks per se. I did like the reworked cover songs and features, which I feel some people were against. And Bey does just enough to pull off the whole country pop thing in my opinion. Nothing life changing but a fun lil ride nonetheless ?
Favourite songs:
16 carriages, levii's jeans, ya ya
Fascinating in small doses, bloated and gimmicky on the whole. Beyonce might be from Texas but she slips into the country sound about as easily as Willie Nelson would slip into hiphop.
This album is a little bloated and I do think the quality does drop off a little at around the mid point, but overall it is another very solid project by Beyonce. Like her last couple of albums, it flows together well and has some amazing production
This comment is beneath your viewing threshold.
If this album wasn’t so bloated, it would have been incredible. Some great songs, but a lot of could have been scrapped. 27 songs is clearly a cash grab, but I can look past it because the album is good. Beyoncé for the most part blends her style and country music well.
