Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

I like this band's cohesive sound, you can tell they had played a lot of music together. Great bass riffs, and for post-punk it is pretty unique sounding and adventurous. I also liked the punk attitude of Smith's vocals. They run out of good tunes in the second half, but still manage to sound interesting. Good album overall.

For years, whenever asked what is my favourite Fall album my answer would always be The Infotainment Scan. It still is. All the albums listed here are truly great Fall albums, but what is The Infotainment Scan doing languishing at number 24. This is a top five Fall album people. It would be in my top twenty all time albums of anybody let alone The Fall, and I've got about three thousand albums. If you've got this album do the right thing and vote it up. If you haven't got this album, then get it.

Together with The Marshall Suite, this was a high point of the Fall in the 90's. Glam Racket, The League Of Bald Headed Men and Paranoia Man In Cheap Shit Room still sound great.
