No duff tracks, but it's all 'nicer' then the Eels and therefore not as good as any Eels album. All tracks I score strongly as I do enjoy the album but its only really Manchester Girl (possibly also A Most Unpleasant Man) indicating what E would become. I prefer A Man Called E of the two solo albums (I'm disregarding Bad Dude In Love).

The most fascinating thing about this all right record is how much progress Beautiful Freak shows as compared to this. The songs here are good, E. is still looking for a sound though. All in all, above average for good craftsmanship, but nothing like Eels' first two LPs.
