José González is a Swedish singer-songwriter who, like Nick Drake, became known for his guitar and classical vocals. On this relaxing album, José González focuses on themes such as perseverance. The album is really inspired by Nick Drake, the singer alone with his guitar forcing a personality. This record is really interesting.

Best track: "Heartbeats"
Crosses, Heartbeats, Broken Arrows the highlights. A pretty solid album with a strong songwriter's instinct. Some of the weaker songs like Hints just have too little going on musically to be interesting. It's the type of album you can put on in the background and the weaker songs don't grate.

This sounds instantly so familiar and so easily lovable. There's a quality to this that is comparable to NMH, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens and more of the best folk ever.
Heartbeats is the standout moment for me, but this is a solid album
