For me this is Leonard's least interesting album in his entire discography, it still has a few moments worth checking out but overall it feels like more of a stop gap instead of a studio album.

One of the problems here is it doesn't have anything that immediately grabs me although quite a few tracks are reasonably pleasant.

An extremely laid back album. Leonard Cohen's voice is now completely shot, basically he can't sing a note anymore so Anjani Thomas helps out on that score. As for the album itself, dear Heather, is a bit dull. There are no great songs here, but a few are okay. The sexy sounds of opener, go no more a-roving, is nice enough, on that day, deals with the events of 9/11, and, nightingale, is beauty-fill, but there's certainly nothing essential here. It's really a late night lights out record, but it's a bit forgetful.
