Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.9/100, a mean average of 64.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 65.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.5.

In many ways this soundtrack to the film Percy is the forgotten Kinks album

Time-line:
27/11/70 - 'Lola vs Powerman' released
26/03/71 - 'Percy Soundtrack' released
24/11/71 - 'Muswell Hillbillies' released

The Movie Percy: is a saucy rom com that was considered rather brazen even by 1971 standards. It tells the sordid tale of a man who in an accident ( a chandelier falls on him) looses his penis only to soon after have a new penis reattached from a dead man and he quickly finds himself entwined with lovers of the dead man via his brand new penis.

The movie is awful but the soundtrack is fortunately great continuing the Kinks run of excellent creative output beginning with 1967's 'Something Else'. "The Way Love Used to Be" is the clear standout track here and amongst The Kinks best tracks in a stellar catalogue. Other highlights include the excellent "God's Children" , a funky upbeat "Lola" instrumental and a 1950's feeling "Willesden Green" that would be a precursor to the C&W vibes of 'Muswell Hillbillies'released some 8 months later

An absolute must for the Kinks devote
