I know I'm totally wrong about this, but for some reason I love this album. It's not their best album but it's my favourite one. And yes, I know I'm an idiot. (Edited)
This is my second least favourite from the pumpkins catalogue
When they returned with this , I was a tad disappointed to say the least
It has a few really good tracks, but it just has no spark !!

Smashing Pumpkins die along with alt/grunge/nu-metal as everyone comes out of their collective brainwash love for their earlier music.
People begin to realize this is an average band at best and feeling tricked by the brainwash, bash Zetigeist and what is to come more than it deserves. I bash it because I thought they stunk from the beginning.
Their A team members leave because Corgan is a tyrant with no talent. Enter B team with similar talent to Corgan to make a soul-less identity-less album.
Corgan doesn't sing well enough to make a hook. The other members aren't good enough to impress in speed or melody to make anything memorable.
So happy people came to their senses at this time. (Edited)

Wow, as a Pumpkins fan I was pretty excited for this album to come out... and I even thought it was decent when it first came out... not bad, but definitely listened to it probably 50 times out of "enjoyment".
Now I can't believe I was so blind to it being so terrible. I mean it isn't like Miley Cyrus terrible, but it definitely is lacking the energy of a comeback. Teargarden by Kaleidoscope was interesting... curious if I'll still like that, as Oceania was probably on par with this record.
This became the basis for a Smashing Pumpkins album for the future. All generic songs that are just ok if you are a Pumpkins fan. Of course it has two or three hits but all in all it left me wanting for a better album.
