Errol Tout is a guitarist, composer and academic from Perth, Australia. Interestingly, he is an architect by training. At the time of the album's release, there was an economic downturn in Australia, there were almost no jobs in construction, and Tout decided to devote this time to music. He himself noted with irony: the music is "atmospheric", and "atmospheres" are also interference that is picked up on the radio late at night. As a result, Atmospherics is often considered his first full-fledged album. The album's music is attributed to avant-garde jazz and ambient. Tout masterfully applies textures: the guitar here does not lead the melody in the usual sense, but forms a background that is complemented by synthesizers and cello.
