This was the first Nils Lofgren album I heard, I love it, and I've never heard another album of his that I liked even a little. These performances became the definitive versions of these songs for me. Same as Waiting For Columbus with Little Feat. His playing is stellar throughout--guitar mostly, but of course that's him on piano on Goin' Back. There's a clip of him playing that on the Old Grey Whistle Test you can find if you search for it--I think that might have been from this same tour, but I'm not sure. I like this one a lot more than almost anybody does, for some reason. Recommendation: start with sides 2 and 3 of the LP, tracks 5 - 11, that's the core. Sides 1 and 4 are peripheral, with the audience-engagement and whatnot. Sides 2 and 3 make a good single album.
