Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.6/100, a mean average of 67.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.0.

This album far exceeded my expectations. It starts with two studio songs (one of which was a single for the movie War Games) and is followed by eight live songs which are nearly all solid. “For Free” is a Byrds rarity performed solo by Crosby and a beautiful gem. “Dark Star” is the same version as featured on the 1991 box set CSN and for me, it’s a little more upbeat and enjoyable than the studio release. “Barrel of Pain” is a cool version of a Nash solo release. “Blackbird” is a gorgeous version of the Beatles classic. A lot of top notch material on this odd release that was seemingly out of print until the digital age.

One of the most depressing and legacy mutilating records ever made. Talented people are exhausted and lost here. Step away there's nothing to see and less to hear. It's the '80's and these guys have raised the white flag. Thankfully this is only a record, if this band was an animal we'd have shown some mercy and put the poor buggers down.
