Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.8/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.1.

Someone commented that this album is not essential, peoples with "Britney Spears" in their personal collection should not have the right to comment, this album is a classic, for all those who love electric guitar, the drums simply does the correct in a kind of sound that the guitar will always be in the foreground, the vocals are very good, someone gifted with sharp perception and technique would not let "vocals downright embarassing", although this is not the main objective.Perfect melodies, wonderful chords, above average songs, all with technique and musicality, Eric Johnson is the guitar player of guitar players and this album is one of his highlights.

Eric Johnson is one of the finest musicians ever to lace up a strat, and this is his finest album. EVERY cut is a winner; not a weak spot on the album except maybe relative to the opening cut which might just be the best guitar instrumental ever.

Cliffs of Dover IS a beast of a song, but this is too uneven an affair to be referred to as a classic. The guitar playin' is top notch throughout, but the vocals are downright embarassing and the drums have a tendency to sound as if provided by a drum machine. Not essential.
