Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 22% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.7/100, a mean average of 73.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.9.

In truth just the one standout track and we all know which one that is. The rest of the album is just boring generic rock but Dream On is one of the greatest rock songs ever written so drags the album's rating up. A one man team if ever I've seen one.

Very good hard rock, nothing really special just a solid piece of music. You can hear strong Exile On Main St. influence here but they take it and create their own sound. Of course Dream On is classic but I find Mama Kin and One Way Street very underrated.

Maybe not their best album, but the only one, imho, where EVERY song is very good. The rest all have some stinkers.

Their debut is actually quite good. Somewhat flawed, but fantastic highlights like "Dream On", "Movin' On", "Mama Kin. Derivative of the Stones and Zeppelin, but hey, they pretty much found their sound with the next album anyway so might as well start off with a good sound. Essential listening for any hard rock fan, especially if you like classic hard rock music.

The album seems under produced compared to the way they later sounded but in a strange way I think that enhances the experience. They came out of the gate with great songs. The best one on offer here is "One Way Street."

Decent debut from Aerosmith. Good songs but, dream on, is an absolute classic, still arguably their best ballad. Beautiful.
