Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.8/100, a mean average of 69.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.1.

Get A Grip sounds briskly like a physical education march, Fever is somewhat feverish in accordance with the name, and then the epic Livin' On The Edge begins unhurriedly - a strong performance in defense of the environment. Steven Tyler, who has matured but is still young enough for rock and roll, has grown up to such manifestos, although next comes the shamelessly lustful Flesh, where the singer frantically voices that the inhabitants of the entire planet, from Boston to Marrakech, need sex, and only sex, at nightfall. Perhaps this is the most carbon monoxide song of the album, and one of the most carbon monoxide in all of Aerosmith's work.
The second half of the record is dominated by three power ballads - Cryin', Crazy and Amazing, promoted thanks to the video clips shot on them, which were tirelessly played on the MTV channel. Back then, these clips were just eye-watering, but now, watching them brings on nostalgic tears, especially looking at the young Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone.

Definitely the best Aerosmith album (that sums up what the band has always been about). Get A Grip is also the best selling Aerosmith album and this album was definitely the peak of their second commercial era that started with 1987’s Permanent Vacation and lasted until 2001’s Just Push Play.

While bands of the 90’s at the time like Nirvana and Pearl Jam hated their new found commercial success and both bands begun to steer their music away from the mainstream in 1993 with albums like In Utero and Vs., Aerosmith whole heartedly embraced commercialization (like they always have) and filled the gaping void both Seattle bands were leaving in the Early-90’s.

Anyways, this album and its success is proof that not everyone in the 90’s wanted to listen to bands that did nothing but stare at their feet and whine about “life sucks” and how hard it is to be a rockstar. And if you’re a big Aerosmith fan and a fan of good classic mainstream arena rock, you can’t go wrong with this album.

Aerosmith se adapta ao mainstream e domina o mercado. Um exemplo de reinvenção!

My album has 'Can't Stop Messin' as track 13, my favourite track on the album! (By quite a way). Not my favourite Aerosmith album otherwise, the ballads don't help.

Decent album, but this marked the beginning of the end for Aerosmith's creativity.

An enjoyable album, but for a rock band Aerosmith were now becoming better at doing ballads. Cryin', crazy, and, amazing, are easily the best tracks on the album. This is unfortunately something that would become a habit with Aerosmith. Still, its a good record, just a little bit too commercial.

Great hard rock/blues rock album. Best 10 songs average is 95,7/100 and the album can get great 95/100. I love it and I can't count how many times I've listened to it. Full scoring: "Livin' on the edge" + "Cryin'" + "Crazy" + "Amazing". Followed by "Eat the rich" 90/100. Notable is also the good instrumental song "Boogie man". Well, let's listen to the album one more time...
