Looking to discover some great music from 2001 I checked out ‘ Comfort Eagle’ and was pleasantly surprised... this album goes alright. So Short Skirt Long Jacket is the obvious reference point here but it’s far from the best thing here with ‘ Commissioning A Symphony In C ‘ and ‘ Comfort Eagle ‘ tremendously entertaining tracks. The remaining tracks are really solid. So yeah Cakes 4th Album is a fun rollicking and entertaining affair. Two thumbs up , I’m so surprised.

Nothing new... same dead-pan delivery, cute lyrics, and samey-sound. One Cake album = any Cake album.

Cake was and always has been an oddball, groovy American Alt/Rock outfit with an undeniable 90's vibe. On this record, they picked up where they left off with 1998's "Prolonging The Magic" as they transitioned over to Columbia Records. This outing featured a couple of radio hits ("Love You Madly", "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" etc)and a track arrangement that really gels together nicely. If you enjoy "Fashion Nugget" I'd recommend this as well.
