Incredible EP. The last song's kind of tagged on, but considering how great the other four are I don't care. That sax solo in Stoneage Dinosaurs is something to behold, and the buildup in Tarred and Feathered is something very special as well. Not to mention Big Ship, a classic in Cardiacs' catalogue and one of the most powerful songs they've ever written. Also contains one of my favourite ever lyrics, "The tool—forever falling—planes against the grain of the wood for the box for my soul."

Considering this is their very first release as a full-fledged group—a short but captivating listen that contains some of their best work—I wouldn't hesitate to call the Big Ship EP essential Cardiacs material.
