Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.4/100, a mean average of 73.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.6.

I find this one a conundrum. When listening to it, there's nothing wrong with it at all, there's a lot of stuff from the same genre which is much worse. The vocals at times sound a bit like Billy Corgan, so some songs sound like a Smashing Pumpkins wannabe band. But for some reason I find it so banal. Even though the songs are well structured, they're good musicians, it's a style I don't mind and it's hard to fault, I find it just has no impact. Oh well. Never mind. You get that sometimes.

I really like the first 4 albums by OLP, and this one isn't an exception. It might be my least favorite of the 4, but it is still a very good record. "Naveed" is an awesome album and "Clumsy" is a good follow-up, but it might be a little bit too similar to its predecessor to really stand out. But I can't help but like the sound they created for their first 4 albums. Our Lady Peace really had a clear and unique identity in the 90's and I happen to like it a lot.

Four stellar tracks but the rest is not great nor memorable.

Our Lady Peace is a band I like, but they've always had a hard time putting together albums that are solid all the way through (that hasn't kept me from buying way too many of them though). Clumsy comes the closest, there are plenty of great songs here that you wouldn't hear on the radio. When I was in high school these lyrics sounded so deep. I guess they still sound kinda deep to me.

Our Lady Peace's best. Raine Maida was really working out some issues on this one. Lyrics are cutting and the music equally so. You can feel the emotion. He almost gets a little melodramatic, but reels it in, unlike later albums. Great alternative-rock album.

Great album. Definitely agree that they carved out their own sound here and on several other albums. Wish they got more credit.

They achieved their sound. This is good cover to cover.
