Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.0/100, a mean average of 73.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.5.

Shaking the Habitual is their most experimental and it's all the better for it.
ok
At a first glance they seem to have gone for electroclash completely, but then the ambient tracks pop up. The electroclash openers are rather try-hard to be outrageous, while the ambient tracks remind me a bit of Aphex Twin's (actual) ambient tracks (on DrukQs especially)... a lot actually, I'm hearing a lot of tricks they directly pulled out Richard's sleeve. However, the ambient tracks I can enjoy quite a bit (at least they're not as annoying as the songs that have a beat (can I call it that?)), but for the same reasons I enjoy Aphex Twin's ambient tracks. Then you have songs like 'Life would be boring without you' that try to be genreless, and of course succeed only to make something I cannot believe anyone puts up voluntarily in their spare time.
Onírico, as vezes um pouco além do que consigo entender acordado!
One of the most interesting albums of the 2000s. It's like pop music from hell in a great way, like a beautiful electronic nightmare of unique sounds and beats. Love it!
Oh wow. "Shaking The Habitual" miraculously manages to go above and beyond the exceedingly high expectations I had after listening to "Silent Shout", one of the greatest albums of the 00s. Yes, it's weird and quite lengthy, but the experimental nature of the record only highlights the sheer amount of ambition the Knife have brought to the table.
For fans of "Heartbeats" and their poppier work, I'd advise you not to worry since there are still multiple electropop bangers on here including the excellent opening two tracks. However I'd also say that you'll be rewarded for your patience when listening to the more, shall we say, "demanding" tracks. The 19 minute drone centrepiece "Old Dreams" has faced backlash along with other left-field tracks, but they possess a genuine beauty and must be consumed along with the poppier tracks as a unified whole in order to experience the complete picture. So, with this brilliant masterwork, The Knife have truly shaken the habitual once again after 2006's "Silent Shout" and continue to overhaul the electronic music landscape.
Full of Fire is one of the best songs this decade!
Sensacional. Brillantemente ejecutado.
An album full of exciting concepts, but many of the ideas drag on for too long. It is at times riveting and at other times tiresome.
Such an outrageous album - in a good way.
