Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.2/100, a mean average of 80.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.8.

Excellent psychedelic tinged offering by The Kinks. Waterloo Sunset is a classic. Don’t see this in many psychedelic charts, it will be in mine when I get sufficient points to rise to bespoke charts.

Side 1 is a classic but, Waterloo Sunset aside, side 2 doesn't quite match those standards. Still very very good though

The sound of 1967 Kinks is perhaps the most recognisable and unique in their whole discography. It can be considered their most "British" album and probably one of the most "British" ever. The single "Autumn Almanac" is maybe the best example of what I just stated.

There is a solid playlist's worth of Kinks tracks that I love, but I have yet to really feel that with a full album. This album comes closest so far.

It isn't the most innovative thing I've ever heard, but every song is really pleasant and fun to listen to.

Such a unique feel to this album. There will never be anything like it again. Amazing album. It would've been even better with some of the singles of the time on it.

Ray Davies is a songwriting wizard. Everything he touches turns to gold on this record. It’s seriously a masterclass in songwriting. The arrangements get much more creative towards the end of the record which I liked a lot. Dave has a couple of good songs in there too.
