Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.1/100, a mean average of 78.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.3.

'Glow' has the hooks and choruses (and it brought Reef a lot of success), but this album's got more depth. There's some great musicianship on display here, and tracks like 'Repulsive' and 'Choose To Live' don't ever seem to wear out their welcome. Even if a 1970s hard rock / classic rock influence is a bit obvious at times, it gives this band and album a distinct identity compared to some of the other bands that were on the UK scene at the time.

P.S. the acoustic side-project 'StringerBessant' is maybe even better than this, and even if you don't care for Reef, it's worth checking out as it shows a much different side to two of the core members (they're basically a pair of grown-up stoners / surfer dudes from the West Country - and have you seen the kickass beard that 'Bessant' has got nowadays? :).

I found this has a sound reminiscent to a lot of early to mid 70's classic rock bands. It's alright but nothing overly impactful. (Edited)
