Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.3/100, a mean average of 75.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.9.

Fantastic rapping, fantastic beats. A bit too long though.

My opinion on this one has changed a lot over the years. The beats are good - especially on Lots of Loving and TROY - but CL Smooth has very little presence on the mic. He's a pretty good rhymer, but he has the same flow on every song and after a while they all blur together. And that's a huge problem considering this is a 77 minute long album. Definitely worth listening to if you're exploring the history of hip hop, but I don't think I'll ever have the desire to hear this one again.

It's definitely a daunting album. 16 tracks, and only one is under 4 minutes (its 3:58). It doesn't feel quite as monotonous as that that would make it seem, because lots of tracks have hidden little interlude beats or other things that add a little variety to the feel. They are interestingly placed at the beginning of most tracks, as opposed at the end or as separate tracks in between as I have commonly seen. While they help, it could still benefit from a verse cut here or there, and a lot of the beats feel pretty similar.

Overall, the album is pretty good. Its good nice flow and pretty good hooks, though they can be a little subdued sometimes. I am unsure why TROY is so hyped, but I will keep listening to it.

This is really great - it's like a boom-bappier version of A Tribe Called Quest. The rhymes are smooth as butter and the lyrics really matter. As far as hip hop goes this might be some of the best.
