Though the interpretations by Roge are similarly masterful, I much prefer De Leeuw's view on things. Here, Satie's pieces drip with a certain ethereal substance, their light, simple, perfect forms extended as if under a magnifying glass: never distorted, only enhanced. Besides all that, there are few better nighttime walk/train ride albums in existence, for my money.
