when i heard that the original medicine lineup was going to release a new album, i was hopeful but skeptical. i had no idea that it would end up being better than any of the albums they released back in the 90's. this is an album that rewards repeated listening, because there is so much going on -- so many layers of sound -- that there's always a new detail to notice. although medicine usually gets labeled as "shoegaze" by default, i think their sound bears a stronger tie to 70's psychedelia.
