Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

Incredible debut album that seems to be mentioned frequently but sadly not to the extent it should. The subtle aggression and punky jazz elements of this project are undeniably brilliant. Incredibly cohesive tracklist that I can only ever experience from start to finish, purely out of the immense enjoyment I have for this album.
His voice is super calming and disconcerting simultaneously. I love all the jazz/indie rock influences. Sometimes gets a bit mac demarco-y which makes me roll my eyes a bit because it's pretty dated. Otherwise I think it's aged well and will continue to.
A severely underrated and slept on album. This mixes intimate introspection with loud, aggressive vocals. King Krule can make his minimalist instrumentation into a massive sprawl of beauty.
Underrated, very innovativ, unique voice and cool, jazzy guitarsound. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes fresh
I've had many smoky nights and connected with so many people with this album soundtracking those moments. The sonic range makes it both a great uplift and a way to introspect. I'll hold these songs forever, thank you Archie.
Extremely underrated. Brilliant and distinctive album from one of the most talented songwriters of the past decade. Atmospheric, beautiful and endlessly quotable - approximating King Krule's snarl has become something of a hobby between friends.
Love this album. Underrated. One of my favorites of the last decade
Probably my favourite album of the year. Really enjoy all of the songs. What a banging first album.
King Krule is cool. Not only that, but I think this album was grossly underrated last year. It's hard to reduce his music to a single, or even a few genres. The thing that holds it all together is his jazzy guitar riffs. This is seriously one of the coolest albums of last year and of the past few years.
Engagingly different! An eclectic blend of styles topped of with Krule's unique voice! I can't stop listening to it!
