Nervous Young Man comments
Nervous Young Men is an underrated piece of another lo-fi work by Will Toledo. All of his well known traits are here, but in Nervous Young Men we see a more calm and set down side of what is shown on "Twin Fantasy".
...Jesus Christ. Why did nobody tell me about this album? I first heard Car Seat Headrest about a year ago around when Teens Of Denial was released, and I thought that album was alright, but didn't look further into his stuff. More recently, I listened to Twin Fantasy and liked it significantly more. But now, hearing this... this is something else entirely. I know it's just my first listen, but I am pretty confident that this is easily the best album he's released, as well as the best album of 2013. The 130 minute length is pretty daunting, but when not a single second is wasted, I'll put up with it. I mean, there are some tracks that could have been cut, but those same tracks could still have been highlights of a lesser album. As is to be expected from Will Toledo, the lyrics are intelligent and painfully relatable. I just can't believe this thing hasn't gotten more attention.
The dude is ridiculously ambitious! A really interesting listen for the first hour alone.
