Dominated by 2014 onwards as that was when I came out of the dark ages of purchased CDs and found subscription streaming services. This increased accessability allowed for so much more exploration and discoveries...and I love new fresh music so recent albums are always coming in.

I knew I had just listened to something special when I first heard this album, a feeling I haven't had since Nevermind. I listened to this album obsessively for a few months and I still haven't stopped listening to it regularly. It has most of the features of music I love, like full of emotion, great lyrics, great song writing, and passionate vocals.
10/10 songs: Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales, Vincent, Fill In The Blank, (Joe Gets Kicked out of School for Using) Drugs with Friends (But Says This Isn't a Problem), The Ballad Of The Costa Concordia, & 1937 State Park [First added to this chart: 06/03/2017]

Sometimes I think live music positively affects my appreciation of albums. I saw Grinderman live twice around the time of this album, and the first time I was in exactly the right frame of mind for this. I lost myself in the wizardry of Warren Ellis and the way him and Nick Cave, the showman, worked so perfectly together. It was such a memorable experience I can't help but be nearly taken back there every time. The second time live was just as good too! A short lived concept project but we got two great albums and some fantastic live performances so I'm not complaining.
10/10 song: Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man (sets up the album for a great example of what you are going to get), Heathen Child, & Kitchenette [First added to this chart: 06/03/2017]
