Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.4/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.0.

I only have one question: why cats at the end of Corona Radiata? XD
I suspect there's a reason that this was given away as a free album. It's not the worst thing ever exactly, a few decent tracks, but any higher price point would have left me deeply disappointed.
This is a pretty good album. I enjoyed it quite a bit.. maybe there are a few boring songs, but overall, it's good.
The only reason why this album in particular is in my chart : Four of Us Are Dying. The other songs are ok, but THIS one... Oh my lord it is so powerful.
Today, I listened to NIN's entire discography (excluding remix albums and Ghosts I-IV). I thought this album was really a high point. It can go from foot tapping to ambient very flawlessly. The high point for me was "The Four of Us are Dying".
Meh. Ghosts and The Slip are where I get into NiN. I tried some of the older stuff, but it seems the main place I can really get Reznor is when he's doing the ambient stuff.
I guess it's a good thing they gave it away for free. There's one or two good songs but most of this stuff is pretty uneventful.
I got into a car accident while listening to "!,000,000"
