Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 8% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.3/100, a mean average of 75.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.6.

Absolutely incredible album with some stripped down versions of old classics along with some atmospheric instrumentals and one of the best NIN songs of all time “And All That Could Have Been.” You can feel these songs inside your bones. Very powerful.

It's ridiculous how "Leaving Hope" is an instrumental song but still says so much to me. One of my favorite songs by NIN for sure.

This is a truly beautiful album, displaying a side of Reznor's music that mamy don't know. The originals are really great, particularly the last three, and the remixes show the beautiful melodies that make up the songs played as simply as possible, allowing him to emphasize the sadness in his songwriting. An incredible EP.

This is a stunningly beautiful album that is woefully underrated.

This is one of the greatest albums by NIN. This is also a perfect example of how flawed the ratings on this site are. Most of this site's ratings are based on popularity.

This is a hidden gem of an album.Rare and out of print at times, it is worth listening to. Trent's beautiful piano and vocal work really stand out on this album, not to mention the high dynamic range. This is one to listen to on a good pair of headphones, and it is really the best NIN album after Downward Spiral and Pretty Hate Machine.
