Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.6/100, a mean average of 73.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

L7 albums are usually mixed bags; two or three great tracks and a lot of noisy forgettable ones. This one is no exception. Pretend We're Dead and Shitlist are catchy as hell, the rest is somewhat skippable.

Wonderful heavy and punchy record that really encapsulated the tone and mood of the 90's.

Favorite Tracks: "Shitlist" & "Scrap"

Good grunge staple. All woman make for the difference but they put out the raw aggression as well if not better than many other grunge contenders.

It is a good grunge album. Like the beginning for nirvana. The interesting fact is here are women who sing grunge as one of a rare group who is in grunge. Standout track: Pretend we‘re dead.

In which the girls, who had been silent in rock for years, get their grunge on. Their 3rd album, Bricks Are Heavy rode the wave of Nirvana with the single "Pretend We're Dead" to stardom. These aren't girls you'd necessarily want to date...they are deadpan and scathing, giving pretty much everyone and everything hell for the hell of it. The album does rock, and it's very listenable. It's just not very...nice. "Pretend We're Dead" still sounds great, and songs like "Diet Pill" (a complaint that it's wearing off) and "Shitlist" are very good. L7 has been on hiatus since 2001, with no reunion in sight.
