Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 64.7/100, a mean average of 62.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 62.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.3.

For me it's this. Always liked Manowar. First track I heard off this was Ride The Dragon. Loved it. So much I instantly went and bought the album. Very disappointed. Some other songs on it's alright but as an album it stinks. Hence I find it only has one decent song.

Okay, I'm now in my brother George's room listening to his metal collection while he cleans his bathroom and I do math on the floor. Dang, this is the Manowar album I've been looking for. About half of the 28-minute opener is crazy drum soloing, and then all the other parts are the most operatic…

Achilles, Agony and Ecstacy is masterpiece. Unashamedly over-the-top yet has integrity. I hadn’t listened to this album for years and a couple of songs like Metal Warriors and The Demon’s Whip are cringeworthy but the epic opening track is brilliant and displays the talent of all members in the band. I bought this album on the merit of one song I'd heard, 'Ride the Dragon'. Loved it (the song). I had other Manowar albums so didn't think it was that much of a gamble getting the album. Not to be. Was quite disappointed. There lengthy rock opera first track that fills half the album does nothing for me. The rest is average. I prefer others over this
