Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

I love this album. It seeps into your subconscious. As mentioned in comments below it has a darker element to it than his other work giving it an overall atmospheric that has you feeling like you’re walking the city at night alone in an unfamiliar neighbourhood. Spaceape is kinda cool but falls into the album at the wrong spot.
Some of the tracks are awfully bland, but there are great moments in here too. I actually enjoy it more than Untrue rn
Burial's self-titled album is a very impressive debut; most veteran musicians have never put out work with comparable amounts of quality to this record. With the use of sampled vocals and claustrophobic beats, this record expertly captures and evokes a dark mood, along with an overwhelming sense of morbidity and hopelessness, as if we were flung off into a far away wasteland all by ourselves, struggling to escape once night falls. It forms a great experience that "Untrue" and his subsequent work builds upon.
