Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.8/100, a mean average of 67.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.1.

Not sure why this one is not higher in the ranking, it's definitely solid, maybe the first one has more classics but Hotter Than Hell is perhaps even stronger, a bit of a muddy production perhaps but serves the darker sound too. Frehley is on fire here with Parasite and personal favourite Strange Ways. He even collaborates with Paul in Comin' Home another banger. Simmons does fine with Watching You, Going Blind. It's quite diverse and fun. 4 out of 5!

The production is a bit flawed overall but there's some great tracks on here. I feel like its underrated, and is pretty low down the list of KISS albums, I give it a solid 8/10.

Strong follow up from their debut this is definitely one of KISS’s best albums just look at the first 5 songs Got to Choose, Parasite, Goin’ Blind, Hotter Than Hell & Let Me Go, Rock and Roll and later on Watchin’ You. All of these classic songs except Goin’ Blind ended up on Alive the next year.

Compositionally this record is every bit as good as the outstanding debut. The production team of Kenny Kearner and Ritchie Wise got a little cute with the production and made an attempt at a heavy Black Sabbath like recording. In some places this works great. "Strange Ways" and "Parasite." Others like the excellent "Watchin' You" and "Let Me Go Rock And Roll" it seems to stiffen up the songs and they don't flow as smoothly. So its an uneven job here. But I have always had a fondness for this record. "Goin' Blind" being such a cool track. KISS records should always begin with a bang so I think it was an unforced error to open with the excellent but slow burning "Got To Choose." Switching it around and making "Parasite" the opening track would have benefitted the presentation. Still an outstanding record...

Not bad but not up to the high standards of other Rock bands.

Some pretty good songs on here but man it's tough to sit through with the production.
