Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. I like this but I prefer the less retro beats from Trouble In Paradise, pretty good listen tho
I have a soft spot for this one since it was the first album I ever bought. It's still really good though. It has an 80s vibe and refrains from being cheesy (which I personally think is very hard to) and In For The Kill and Bulletproof are both essential hits of 2009. Fascination and As If By Magic are equally impressive. But so is most of the album.
Early 80's synth got me really into music as a teenager, so had to give this a go - 2000's electronic, and it's enjoyable although not up there (for me) with the best 80's stuff. As If By Magic and Facination should have been singles and as close to my original favourites as there is on this....
One current artist I'm astounded has yet to follow up this masterful work of retro=pop material. Bulletproof was an absolute smash and Ellie has remained quiet long after. Looking forward to the follow up more than any other really since it's been so long
