Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.5/100, a mean average of 69.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.3.

Not a bad album but I don't rate it as high as others, never really convinced me. Strong but generic rock and roll mostly. I Stole Your Love, Shock Me and of course Love Gun are standouts. Christine Sixteen and Plaster Caster are fine too.

The last of a run of 7 albums from 1974 - 1977 before the band experimented with their sound. This album like the ones preceding is straight forward hard rock and gets the job done.

A solid classic Kiss album, with some great tunes like Love Gun and Plaster Caster, but has weak songs too, like Hooligans and Tomorrow and Tonight. Enjoyable record, but IMO isn't among their best.

Hard to believe how fast KISS was putting out records back in the seventies. This was the third studio recording released in a 15 month span. It totally fulfilled the expectations of this 14 year old boy in 1977. Perhaps Gene's finest collection of songs. All of his are great...particularly "Almost Human" and the brilliant single "Christine Sixteen." "I Stole Your Love" may be the best opening track ever...it soon became the opening song in their live set...and what a title track. Too much is made about Ace Frehley getting his first lead vocal on "Shock Me" and not enough credit is given for his main job. Outstanding solos abound. Eddie Kramer sets a production somewhere squarely between Destroyer's and Rock and Roll Over's. There is truly nothing not to love about this record...1977 was the best year to be a KISS fan.

Oh what a shock, coconut's here again slagging of another Kiss album like he does with all their records, and this guy love's Poison too, strange. Love gun, is another silly and enjoyable album with the title track being one of Kiss' great anthems. Party music.

Well, it's a Kiss album. But comparing it to other Kiss albums, it's a definite stand out. I Stole Your Love is a phenomenal opening track, Shock Me, Tomorrow and Tonight, and of course Love Gun are all great Kiss songs.

Possibly my favorite Kiss studio album.

I Stole Your Love, Christine Sixteen, Love Gun, Almost Human and Plaster Caster are KISS classics. Kiss is sexy and hardrockin'. Gene and Paul wanted to f**k every groupie out there. Love this album.

Kiss was fun...that's it...no politics or social conscious... get laid and maybe you'll get the clap or get whipped ! and possibly both...I love the sleazy nerve of the "Christine Sixteen" narrative....other favs. "I Stole Your Love", "Shock Me" and the title track...had to include something by them cause they remind me not to take everything too serious all the time...
