Great vocal performances mixed in with some good songs, but the arrangements really leave a lot to be desired at times, especially because some of them are really not very different from the Costello originals.
The album is really one-note, which is a shame, because it would have been more interesting to see Von Otter's takes on Costello classics (imagine a rock and rolling yet operatic version of, say, "Lipstick Vogue"). An okay album, but one that is absolutely inessential for any Costello fan...you know, the target audience for this record, probably?
