Criminally overlooked album, probably because those who love the first album were turned off by how different this is, and those who didn't love it didn't give this one a chance. Sure, not every song is a home run, but this is a unique blend of ska, northern soul, dub, latin rhythms, and the genius stroke - lounge music synthesizers. They then perfected the sound on the follow-up single, which is by far the best thing Specials ever released: Ghost Town b/ Why? & Friday Night, Saturday Morning

Not very special, the B side is full of bad songs.
ska. bland overall
When it's good, it's very good - like Pearl's Cafe, Sock it to 'em JB and International Jet Set, but there's some real dross on here too. Holiday Fortnight anyone? Not up to the excitement of the debut.
As brilliant as the debut. Underrated and excellent.

Why did I take this out of my top 100? A joy to hear from one of the coolest bands of all time. Back in the top 100 you go.
Great album! Sounds fantastic 34 years later. Interesting that no one has rated this record 100 out of 100, possibly because it has a couple of pointless tracks that weaken it?
