Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.2/100, a mean average of 70.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.7.

Like The Sound of mMsic, this is a good musical. Maybe 5 more stars or so...
A classic musical with a classic score.
You got to give it credit: it has audiences shouting and weeping.

Les Miserable has been always my favourite musical. Great lyrics and nice plots. And of course, good music
It's not bad, as musicals go. A story with much more substance to it than Phantom.
In 1985 my boss decided to treat us for a job well done. He was taking us to a broadway musical. I wasn't impressed. But we were getting a free meal and some wine. And it wasn't my tab. My knowledge of Broadway musicals was that each one has a signature tune, that it then beats into the ground. Les Miz is very different. Melodies everywhere, choruses to blow you away. Even lyrics that aren't pure drivel. There is some repetition on the 2nd CD, but the melodies are so strong, they carry the day. I need some repetition before I can properly appreciate music. In this instance the music grabbed me right off the bat. Again, I know you rock fans scoff at my pick, but I'm telling you you're missing out on some really great music.
